An iPhone or iPod Touch can be a great toy for kids or a great learning tool. But, as a parent, you might want to restrict access to some apps, specifically the ones that allow your kids to surf the Internet. In this instance, it would be the Safari web browser.

Steps Download Article

    Open the Settings app.

    Tap "General" and then tap "Restrictions".

    Press "Enable Restrictions".

    Enter a Passcode to lock the restrictions area. Make sure to remember the passcode, or you'll be locked out yourself.

    Toggle the "Safari" slider OFF.

  6. 6

    Press the Home button and look for Safari. It should be gone.

  7. 7

    Return to the "Restrictions" menu to re-enable Safari. You will need to enter your passcode.

  • If you have disabled Safari you might want to make sure you have a password on the app store otherwise your kids can download other browsers like Google Chrome or Firefox.

  • Apps such as Twitter and Facebook will work even without Safari. Be sure to identify the apps that access the Internet independently from Safari and block each of those apps separately, if desired.

  • Be careful to take note of, and remember the passcode. You will need it to re-enable Safari.
