How long Do You have to go to bartending school?

Naturally, the first questions you have is, how much does it cost to go to bartending school? How long will you have to wait before you can start applying for jobs? How long is the class? These are all good questions. A lot of bartending students want to complete bartending school as quickly as possible. Still others are looking for a good part-time program, that is easily adaptable to their lives.

But what students need to understand is that the learning process can't be rushed. Here at Elite Bartending School Orlando, we know that it takes two weeks minimum to learn how to bartend with speed and efficiency that is required in the real world of bartending.

Don't do a course that is crammed into a one-week class, this does not give you enough time to study the material and execute the training in a timely manner.

At Elite Bartending School Orlando, we separate the weeks with a three-day break, allowing the students time to master the recipes, so the second week can be used to execute the cocktails with speed and efficiency.

At Elite Bartending School Orlando, we offer two class times, 11am – 3pm and 6pm – 10pm, these times allow students to study around their schedule. You can also mix and match times as we teach both classes simultaneously.

If you put your all into it, bartending school can be done in as little as two weeks. Some students do struggle with graduating bartending school in this time. Elite Bartending School offers free refresher classes, as your fee comes with lifetime membership.

The amount of time it takes to finish bartending school is completely up to the individual student. You are free to schedule classes around work, childcare, and other schooling- the sky is the limit at Elite Bartending School Orlando!

State Requirements for Bartending School

The state of Florida requires you to complete 40 hours to obtain your bartending license. These 40 hours are broken down into 4-hour classes, with the opportunity to utilize our open bar times from 3pm – 6pm, allowing our students three hours extra every day to perfect their skills.

Each day covers one of each chapter. Every class is divided into two parts; one hour and a half of lecture and 2 and a half hour of lab time behind the bar, working hands-on with our professional bartending instructors.

We teach inside a real bar, room for several students to work at a time, so space is always available and class size is never an issue. In order to be eligible for testing, students must attend every class for every chapter in the textbook. The school offers classes four days per week, up to two times per day. Most of our bartending schools are closed Friday, and Saturdays.

Testing and Graduation

Testing consists of a written, practical and a free-pour exam, taken once the student has completed their 40 hours of class time. The written test is a comprehensive exam on everything covered during the class. In the practical exam, you will be required to mix 17 drinks and cocktails in three and a half minutes. We finish of the testing day with a pour test, insuring that you can free-pour to perfection. Once you have passed all tests successfully, you will obtain your certification. Testing is available for scheduling every week, so once your classes are complete, you won't have to wait long for certification!

Prior to testing, students can request that instructors give them practice tests, to prepare them for the final exam. This can be done a multitude of times, to make sure you are ready.
